The gates have opened in Londonderry for the third and final day of Radio 1's Big Weekend.

Headliner Bruno Mars will bring the three-day free music event in Derry's Ebrington Square to a close.

Police said there had only been a "small number" of arrests over the first two days. They advised those attending the festival not to drink too much alcohol.

Paramore, Little Mix and Wretch 32 are among the other acts due to perform.

Around 40,000 tickets were allocated for the entire event.

One of the first through the gates was 17-year-old Caoimhin.

He said: "I've been watching the coverage the last two days and it's been incredible.

"I'm looking forward to seeing Bruno Mars. He's a great artist and always plays live.

"For Derry this event has been great because it's got people into the city to see just why it's the City of Culture."

Hayley, who is also 17, added: "I saw Calvin Harris which made me really excited for coming.

"Today I want to see The Script and Macklemore. I think everyone loves The Script don't they?"
