Daft Punk's Get Lucky reaches million sales in 69 days

Daft Punk's Get Lucky has become the first single released in 2013 to reach one million sales in the UK.

The achievement makes it the biggest-selling single of 2013 so far and has reached the milestone 69 days after going on sale.

"I'm awestruck," said Nile Rodgers, 60, who features on the Daft Punk track along with Pharrell Williams.

"Get Lucky has sold a million copies is one thing, but to do it in 69 days? It's amazing," the guitarist added.

The last time a single took less than three months to hit a million sales was this year for The X Factor winner James Arthur's Impossible.

The French duo Daft Punk are only the second French act to ever achieve a million-selling single in the UK.

The achievement comes a few weeks after David Guetta was the first with his song Titanium.

Get Lucky managed the success in 69 days, while Titanium took 79 weeks.

The track spent one month at the top of the chart and is the 136th single to reach one million sales in the 60 years of the Official UK Singles Top 100.

It is the lead single from Daft Punk's fourth studio album Random Access Memories.

Pharrell Williams could also hit the one million mark again in the UK with Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines, which features the rapper and US rapper T.I., close to hitting 800,000 sales.
