Jay-Z answers dozens of fans' questions on Twitter

Less than a month after saying he would stay off Twitter for the rest of the year, Jay-Z has done a Q&A session in which he responded to dozens of questions from fans.

The rapper has nearly three million followers on the social networking site but doesn't follow anyone else.

Last month he wrote: "Ok that was my yearly allotment see ya'll 2014..#newrules #magnacartaholygrail."

One of the questions asked was about the release of his new album.

Jay-Z released Magna Carta Holy Grail three days early to one million Samsung smartphone customers through an app in a deal worth $5 million (£3.3m).

The sales didn't count towards placement on America's Billboard Hot 200 album chart.

But the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) changed its rules ahead of Jay-Z's 12th studio album so that the sales counted towards gold and platinum certification, instead of waiting the traditional 30 days after release.

Twitter user @overtheordinaryhow asked him about the subject: "[How] do you feel bout the RIAA changing their rules cause of you?" to which Jay-Z replied, "It was an old rule that didn't factor in digital."

He was also asked about which cereal he ate (Cap'n Crunch when he was a child), said he felt "creepy" about writing tweets every day, revealed his favourite pasta this year had been linguine and clam and said that he was "rather partial to London".

He also revealed he was listening to the BBC's Sound of 2011 runner-up James Blake and said his favourite film was The Godfather Part II.

When one fan asked if he still had 99 problems, the 43-year-old replied - #newrules new problems.

Jay-Z explained why Kanye West didn't feature on the new album: "Same question back to you on Yeezus? WTT2 [Watch The Throne 2]" and said he wouldn't want to listen to one song for the rest of his life.

He also thinks Magna Carta Holy Grail is his fourth best album after Reasonable Doubt, The Blueprint and The Black Album with hashtag #MCHG trending worldwide on Twitter during the Q&A.

At the end of the session he said: "That was fun, Peace all #factsonly."

Jay-Z is headlining the Wireless Festival on Saturday night at London's Olympic Park and is co-headlining Sunday night with Justin Timberlake.

The pair then head out on their North American Legends of The Summer Stadium Tour.
