Reality TV star Khloe Kardashian's husband Lamar Odom has reportedly checked himself into rehab over alcohol and drug abuse.

The National Basketball Association (NBA) star entered into a rehabilitation centre this week according to People magazine.

It comes after the player was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and or drugs last Friday.

He was pulled over by the California Highway Patrol during the early hours.

The NBA player was spotted driving erratically on the 101 Freeway in the San Fernando Valley and was arrested at 3:54am before being booked into jail in Van Nuys where he was held on $15,000 (£9,600) bail.

He was later released from custody.

The star has admitted to struggling with drug use in the past.

In 2001, while playing for the Los Angeles Clippers, he was suspended twice for drug violations.

At the time the basketball star was a member of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Lamar Odom won two NBA championship titles in 2009 and 2010 as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers.

In 2011, he won the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year Award, given to the most valuable player coming on as substitute.
