Vin Diesel has announced the release date of Fast and Furious 7.

The 46-year-old actor posted a picture of him next to his late co-star Paul Walker on his official Facebook page, external with the caption: "The last scene we filmed together."

He added: "Fast and Furious 7 will be released 10 April 2015!"

There had been speculation over when the film would be completed after Walker's death in a car crash on 30 November.

Walker, 40, was a passenger in a Porsche sports car driven by a friend - who also died - when it crashed north of Los Angeles.

Walker was said to be attending a charity event at the time.

The post on Vin Diesel's page also said: "There was a unique sense of completion, of pride we shared… in the film we were now completing… the magic captured… and, in just how far we've come."

The comment finished with a final reference to Walker: "P.s. He'd want you to know first."

The latest instalment in the franchise is the follow up to Fast and Furious 6, which was released in May 2013.

The film made $789m (£482m) at the global box office and Universal Pictures have said they will donate proceeds from the upcoming DVD release to Walker's charity, Reach Out Worldwide.

It was the highest-grossing film of Walker's career and helped him to become the sixth highest grossing actor of the year, according to Forbes magazine.

Vin Diesel finished fourth on the list, which was topped by Dwyane Johnson who also appears in the Fast and Furious films.
