Jessie J slams coaches on The Voice over lack of criticism

Jessie J has called for more "constructive criticism" from coaches on The Voice.

She took to Twitter to question comments made by the show's coaches during this weekend's battles round.

The singer was a coach on the first two series of the BBC singing contest before quitting last year to concentrate on promoting her new album.

Jessie J described performances by Sir Tom Jones's artists Celestine and Mairead Conlon as "vocally messy."

They were performing a version of her single It's My Party.

She tweeted: "Where is the constructive vocal criticism?! It was TOO MUCH! Vocally messy and too many runs and licks!

"Singers don't and won't improve if you continually say 'amazing' when it's not... Can't get better in a 'Yes' bubble."

Some of her fans highlighted the fact that the Do It Like A Dude singer also uses runs and licks when she sings.

She responded: "When have I said that I DON'T SOMETIMES riff and run a lot. We are ALL learning! Every singer has to take criticism! Myself as an artist included!

"I know if I performed It's my party like Team Tom did on the battles that my team wouldn't say it was great."

The singer announced she was leaving the show last summer to concentrate on her new album, Alive, and touring around the world.

She said at the time: "I've absolutely loved my time on The Voice, and I hope everyone saw and knows how passionately I felt about the show."
