Hunger Games, American Hustle up for MTV Movie Awards

Oscar nominees American Hustle and The Wolf of Wall Street have the most nominations for MTV's Movie Awards with eight each.

Both films came away from Sunday's Academy Awards without a trophy.

They will both compete at the MTV ceremony for the title of movie of the year, along with The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug and 12 Years a Slave.

The fan-voted awards will be hosted by comedian Conan O'Brien on 13 April.

Oscar best picture winner 12 Years a Slave earned four nominations, while space thriller Gravity got just one nod for Sandra Bullock as best actress, after winning seven Academy Awards earlier this week, the most this year.

This year's oddest categories include best shirtless performance, best "#WTF moment" and best cameo performance.

The 15-actor brawl in Anchorman 2 was nominated for best fight scene while American Hustle's Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Adams are up for best kiss.

Backstreet Boys are also up for an award for best musical moment after they appeared in the comedy This Is the End.

The ceremony will take place in the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, where winners will be handed Golden Popcorn trophies.
