X Factor 2014 auditions visit 'more cities than ever'
- Published
This year's X Factor auditions will visit "more towns and cities than ever" as the TV show heads to 43 venues across the UK and Ireland.
Hopefuls have two ways of entering the ITV talent show.
The first is via the main open auditions, which will visit nine cities across the UK and Ireland.
Acts can also try their luck at the smaller scale mobile auditions, which are already underway and will visit 34 towns and cities.
It was in the mobile round of auditions that former X Factor winner James Arthur was discovered in 2012.
Earlier this year, it was confirmed that Cheryl Cole and Simon Cowell will make a come back as judges.
Simon Cowell said: "The last time I was on the show [three years ago] we discovered One Direction, Cher Lloyd and Rebecca Ferguson.
"This year we're visiting more towns and cities than ever across the UK to find the next pop star ready to take on the world.
"So if you're thinking about auditioning, just do it!"
The main open auditions begin in Dublin on Saturday 5 April and finishes in Liverpool on Monday 5 May.
The mobile auditions started last month in Cork and finish on Monday 28 April in Widnes.
Speaking about her tips for auditioning, Cheryl Cole said: "If you do something original or a good remix or something that makes people sit up and listen, that's always a good start.
"So go and do some research, find some unique ways of singing songs we're already aware of."
Successful candidates will then win the chance to perform in front of the show's judges in the summer auditions.
This year marks the 11th series of The X Factor.
Last year's winner was 36-year-old Sam Bailey.
