Deryck Whibley has thanked fans for their support following his recent treatment for alcohol abuse.
Earlier this month, the Sum 41 singer posted pictures of himself in hospital after collapsing after years of "hard boozing".
In a follow-up post, external Whibley said: "I wanted to thank you for all the compassion you have shown me.
"It really means a lot to me."
He added: "I will be better soon and back out on stage before you know it."
Whilbey had been in hospital for more than a month, including time in intensive care.
He said: "One more drink and the docs said I could die.
"The reason I got so sick is from all the hard boozing I've been doing over the years. It finally caught up to me. I was drinking hard every day."
The singer said the incident had inspired him to write new music.
"I have my passion and inspiration back for writing music," added Whibley, who was married to Avril Lavigne for three years until 2009.
"I already have a few song ideas for new songs. Soon it will be time to start making an album and getting back to touring again."
The 34-year-old has had hits with Sum 41 including Fat Lip, In Too Deep and Still Waiting.
The Canadian rock band is made up of Whibley, bassist Jason McCaslin and guitarist Tom Thacker.
Drummer Steve Jocz left the group last April.
Since forming in 1996, Sum 41 have released five studio albums with their last record, Screaming Bloody Murder, released in 2011.
