The first wave of nominations for the Teen Choice Awards have been announced.

Pretty Little Liars and The Vampire Diaries lead the way with five nominations each.

The Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire follows with four nominations.

Other nominees include Beyonce for Choice female artist and Choice female hottie, while Selena Gomez is up for Choice female hottie, choice smile and One Direction are up for Choice music group and Choice male hottie.

Mystery-thriller Pretty Little Liars has been nominated for Choice TV show: Drama.

Ian Harding and Keegan Allen up for Choice TV actor: Drama and Troian Bellisario and Lucy Hale up for Choice TV Actress: Drama.

The five categories that The Vampire Diaries has been named in include Choice TV show: Fantasy/Sci-Fi as well as stars Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley being up for Choice TV actor: Fantasy/Sci-Fi and Kat Graham and Nina Dobrev being named in the actress: Fantasy/Sci-Fi category.

Ed Sheeran

The Choice male artist category sees Ed Sheeran up against Jason Derulo, Pharrell Williams, Pitbull, Austin Mahone and Justin Timberlake while One Direction have been named alongside Coldplay, 5 Seconds of Summer, Fifth Harmony, R5 and Rixton.

Coldplay are also up for Choice rock group against Imagine Dragons, One Republic, Paramore and The Black Keys.

Fans between the ages of 13 and 19 can vote once a day in each of the categories, external with the winners being named in a live ceremony on 10 August.

Hosts, performers, presenters and more nominees will be announced shortly.
