Remember that advice about only saying something if you've got something nice to say?

Maybe no-one told Catfish producer Nev Schulman.

He tweeted about a show celebrating young black women. Only instead of adding to the party, he insulted them.

Not a smart move. He was well and truly schooled on Twitter.

Lots of love

Black Girls Rock! is pretty much what it sounds like. A group that aims to build up the self-esteem of young black girls.

And it's just had a big shiny TV awards show. There was a lot of love in the room.

Rihanna won the rock star award. She said: "All girls rock. Black girls… we just on another level."

Shonda Rhimes - who should be given her own prize as the official Queen of TV - came with her daughter.

The Grey's Anatomy and Scandal creator said: "Your slates are blank, your paths are clear, your stories are whatever you decide."

Hillary Clinton called black women "change makers and pathmakers and ground shakers".

You get the impression. A LOT OF LOVE.

Catfish

Enter Nev Schulman. He's the producer of MTV show Catfish.

It's about people who put up fake social media profiles, often to try to trick someone into falling in love with them.

His slightly random comment on the show has now been deleted. But it definitely wasn't in keeping with the positive vibes.

You can imagine how well this went down on Twitter.

Another Twitter user @melaninporn took it upon herself to school Nev Schulman.

In a string of tweets she said she had catfished herself - and explained why. , external

She told him it was a form of escape for her.

The TV producer thanked her for her explanation and deleted the text.

So it all ended up pretty well. , external
