Met Gala: Katy Perry's mirror, screensaver suits and 'churros'

This year's Met Gala has been held at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art.

It's an exclusive event with tickets costing tens of thousands of dollars.

There's always a theme - this year was Comme des Garcons: Art of the In-Between, celebrating the work of Japanese designer Rei Kawakubo.

It's an excuse for celebrities to be pretty extravagant on the red carpet. With that, naturally, comes a response from the internet.

Rihanna

Despite opting for an outfit that some described as "brave", Rihanna's look was mostly praised online with many agreeing that she "followed the theme".

Jaden Smith

Yep, that's hair he's holding.

When asked why he was clutching a handful of dreadlocks, he replied: "Since I couldn't bring my sister as a date I bought my old hair."

P Diddy

After a busy walk down the red carpet, P Diddy "was getting tired" so took a second to rest on the stairs.

Some people also pointed out his suit looked a bit familiar.

Katy Perry

Despite the best efforts of her dress' train, it was Katy Perry's headwear that got people's attention.

The word "witness" was scrawled on her forehead, which made fans question if it was a tease towards some of her new music, suggesting it might be a track title.

Others questioned if her rear-view mirrors could have done with a bit of a clean before she hit the red carpet.

Pharrell

The singer's wife Helen Lasichanh was wearing a full body suit by Kawakubo with a "pillowy" design.

It was pinned her arms to her sides without outlets.

But people on Twitter thought she looked a bit like Po, a character from the Teletubbies.

Pharrell Williams himself arrived in a pair of ripped Comme des Garcons jeans and a leather jacket.

Solange

She may have one of the most critically acclaimed albums of 2016, but that didn't help Solange avoid a bit of flack.

Nicki Minaj

The rapper and the Olsen sisters got the meme treatment on Twitter.

Tuck wrote: "The Dark Crystal reboot is looking dope #MetGala."

Nicki was totally fan girling as well at the Met Gala - she had her picture taken with every famous person she could including Halle Berry, Ryan Reynolds and Jourdan Dunn.

Lil Yatchy
