During this week's Boston Celtics v Washington Wizards NBA semi-final game, some viewers think one player wasn't quite what he seemed.

Twitter users suggested Wizards star Markieff Morris had been replaced by another player.

But this wasn't about a substitution - they think his twin brother Marcus Morris played the match for him.

It's speculative and highly unlikely despite these basketball sibling stars taking identical to the extreme.

But that didn't stop the tweeters from sharing their theories.

Markieff had suffered a sprained ankle in his previous match against the Celtics, which raised suspicions among cynical NBA viewers.

But while it's tough to tell the players apart during the blur of an NBA semi-final, there are subtle differences between Markieff and his brother, who plays for the Detroit Pistons.

First of all, they aren't the same height

But that's not much use if you're only watching one twin play ball and trying to work out who it is.

Markieff is 6'10" and Marcus is 6'9".

And of course, they wear different numbers on their vests

Markieff plays in the number 5 jersey for the Celtics, while Marcus wears 13 for the Pistons.

Still, we're sure they'd have been smart enough to swap tops if Markieff had let Marcus play for him.

Their tattoos are nearly identical, but not quite

Can you see the subtle differences in the brothers' ink?

Markieff and Marcus are covered in tattoos which, to the untrained eye, look as identical as the rest of their bodies.

There are subtle differences in the ink on their chests, however, which can be seen poking out from the top of their basketball vests.

However, you'd still have to be pretty close to spot this during a game.

There are also some subtle differences in how they play their game

Markieff is known for taking shots close to the hoop while Marcus more usually takes his from the three-point line.

And at least they play for different teams now - between 2013 and 2015 both Morris brothers played for the Phoenix Suns.
