Dundee boss Tony Docherty has been speaking to the media ahead of his side's trip to Ibrox on Saturday.

Here are the key points from his news conference...

• Reluctant to say they "owe" Rangers one after 5-0 thrashing at Dens Park earlier in the season, but hopes his side "make a better account of themselves".

• Confident that they have identified weaknesses in a "strong" Rangers team that he will be looking to "exploit" on Saturday.

• "The whole point" of Dundee getting promoted is to test themselves at venues like Ibrox and Parkhead, adding that he enjoys the tactical challenges that come with lining up against the Old Firm.

• Praises Owen Beck for adding goals to his game, while saying many players in his side have been showing "real levels of consistency".

• No fresh injury concerns beyond a few "bumps and bruises", with some players missing training. Confirms forward Diego Pineda remains out.

While those around them are in midweek action, Dundee have a week on the training ground before they return to business against Rangers on Saturday.

They head south in good form with just two defeats in their last nine games.

One of those defeats was a 5-0 thrashing by Rangers at Dens Park just over a month ago, and with that chastening result still fresh in their memories, it will be fascinating to see how the Dark Blues approach the game.

Tony Docherty has previously said that his side won’t be judged by how they fare against Glasgow’s big two.

However he will be hoping the trip to Govan doesn’t derail the feelgood factor that is continuing to build within his squad.

But any such concerns would appear unfounded on the basis of what we have seen so far this season, with his team responding well to any bumps in the road.

It is the second of three away games in a row for Dundee – they will feel they should have won the first at Motherwell, only to be denied the three points by a Conor Wilkinson equaliser in the seventh minute of added time.

However the draw saw them add to their impressive points tally for the season and they will believe they have got the tools in their armoury to get something at Ibrox this weekend.

It was a fustrating Saturday for Dundee. The team put in a performance worthy of the three points, but we were cruely denied a massive win by conceding a 97th-minute equaliser at Fir Park.

Despite missing out on the win, it was great to see an exceptional talent shine yet again.

Yes, I'm talking about Welshman Owen Beck, who we have on loan from Liverpool this season.

Slate or mock me but I genuinely believe that we have the best left-back in this league. The boy has been getting better and better with each game and has now added goals to his bag of tricks.

That's now two in two for a player who should be knocking on the door to another call-up to the full Wales International team. He would certainly deserve it.

He's not the only young talent in our squad.

A player I fully expected to make an impact, and one who I was telling everyone who would listen to me would be a big player for us this term, has rightly found his feet in this league, and a regular starting spot in the first team.

The player in question is Lyall Cameron.

A super talent. His vision is second to none. His passing is sublime. He's a creative spark that's starting to shine.

Not only that, he's a regular in the Scotland U21 squad and recently found the back of the net against Belgium and was named man of the match.

His play and passing on Saturday yet again showed fans what a talent we have on our hands, along with Beck.

Quite simply, Owen Beck is good. He's very, very good.

I watched him play against Inverness in the Viaplay Cup group stages right at the start of the season. Even then, you could see his energy, hunger and desire to get up the line.

He's not a physically imposing player, but he gets his foot in and he doesn't take a step backwards. He's a young man with real quality.

With each passing week, the 21-year-old is noticeably becoming more confident playing top-flight football.

Dundee are reaping the benefits of that just now because they're a good, competent side and he certainly brings great deliveries from the left-hand side while chipping in with some goals as well.

It’s all looking up for him, and I think the future's bright for Beck.

In terms of what will happen when he goes back down to Liverpool, I have no idea.

There's no doubt he'll have opened up some eyes to his talents north of the border. Depending on what happens in the future, there will be a quite a few admirers in Scotland.

Following a thriller at Fir Park, two Dundee stars make my team of the week.

It was another outstanding performance from Liverpool loanee, Owen Beck. He took his goal superbly well, too.

Talking of superb, Lyall Cameron is that in abundance. He is a young Scottish star in the making for the Dark Blues.

We asked for your thoughts after Connor Wilkinson's 97th-minute goal denied Dundee all three points at Fir Park.

Here's what you had to say:

Albert: Typical of our club. Ach well, bring on Rangers.

Doug: A game that should have been remembered as an excellent away victory achieved through sustained classy play will instead be remembered for the sloppy last ten seconds. Two points squandered (again).

Lyall Cameron put in a player of the match performance against Motherwell, but admits there was disappointment at not being able to hold on for all three points.

More like a defeat than a point?

Yeah, definitely. I think we dominated the game and then obviously they went down to ten men. We score a late goal to make it 3-2 and you think the game is won. 90 seconds left, they’ve got a goal kick and you don’t think there’s any threat. Next thing they’re up the other end and score and make it three-all.

Measure of your progress that you’re disappointed at a draw here?

Yeah, I think from the start of the season when we played them we’ve improved a lot. Today we certainly feel like we should have won that game with the amount of chances we created and the play that we had.

Response to going behind encouraging?

Yeah, we showed great character because we started really poor and then obviously we went and got ourselves 2-1 up and let them get back in it. Even the last goal to make it 3-2 it shows character again we just didn’t stop. Well, we did stop at the very end unfortunately.

Overall picture?

We know we’re holding our own now and feel like we can push on to the next level and that’s what we were trying to do today, come away to a hard place, get three points and get up the road. But I feel like on another day we would have. With that performance we probably should have but unfortunately we didn't.

Dundee manager Tony Docherty: "Hugely disappointed to lose a game in which we were so dominant and the level of performance was so high.

"I thought we were outstanding and I should be talking about how good my team were. But we don't manage the last 90 seconds of the game properly and we end up dropping two points.

"We were in a similar position away to St Johnstone, so as well as we're doing that's four points we've dropped.

"But I can't be too harsh on my players because I thought the level of performance was outstanding and we really didn't get what we deserved.

"This league is punishing and it's unforgiving and you need to make sure you see out games and get your reward for what you put in to the game."

Dundee will be frustrated they did not hold on for a win having scored a brilliant goal late on through Robinson and having played some neat football. Cameron was outstanding in the middle of the pitch alongside McCowan and Malachi Boateng.

Beck is having a wonderful season on loan from Liverpool and was excellent again. It's still just one defeat in nine for Dundee so there is plenty to be pleased about for Docherty and the club's fans.

At Fir Park, the only change for Dundee from the defeat by Hibs is Aaron Donnelly coming in for Ricki Lamie, who is ineligible to play against Motherwell, his parent club.
