Girl plays truant as her father gets prosecuted for it
Nearly 12,000 parents were prosecuted because of their child's truancy from school last year and 25 were given short prison sentences, according to government figures.
The number of parents taken to court over their child skipping school has tripled in five years.
Bethany, 19, in Birmingham spoke to Radio 5 live's Victoria Derbyshire about her little sister, nine, who has been playing truant. She said that despite their father getting prosecuted nothing will convince her sister to attend school.
