Centenary proves enduring appeal of the Titanic story

New exhibitions open in Belfast and Southampton in 2012 to mark the centenary of the Titanic disaster.

Tickets are already selling well as there appears to be no dip in the public's enthusiasm for the story of the ill-fated luxury liner.

Louise Patten, granddaughter of the ship's second officer Charles Lightoller, told the BBC why she believes the story still exerts such a powerful pull 100 years on.
