Christabel Pankhurst: 'I wanted to assault a policeman'

In 1903 the Women's Social and Political Union was formed in Manchester by political activist Emmeline Pankhurst and her daughter, Christabel.

It was the leading militant organisation campaigning for the right for women to vote.
