Cruelty cases 'stretching RSPCA to breaking point'

The number of people convicted of animal cruelty and neglect rose by nearly a quarter in England and Wales last year, according to the RSPCA.

The organisations director of communications David Bowles said the number of cases are stretching the RSPCA "almost to breaking point".

He told BBC Breakfast he believes the rise in neglect cases is linked to the recession.
