MP's concern at 'military covenant' pledge
The government has been accused of failing to give injured military veterans all the care they have been promised. Two leading medical experts have said that ministers are failing to honour the military covenant: a pledge that people hurt while serving their country will be looked after for the rest of their lives.
Labour MP Madeleine Moon, who sits on the Defence Select Committee, says she is concerned about the situation.
"We do very good work now in identifying initial problems with the personnel," she told the Today programme.
"The problem is it's a long-term issue and it might appear over 10, 15, 20 years. What we're not clear about is that the long-term money, the long-term interest is going to be there, to ensure that veterans are in the long-term going to be able to obtain the help and care that they need."
First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Wednesday 29 October.
