The gathering at Wembley soon after the Hindu religious festival of Diwali is expected to be Mr Modi's biggest yet.

Organisers said they could not meet the demand for the free tickets.

The cost was met largely by donations - 10,000 people are said to have contributed - along with businesses that were both supporting and paying to advertise the event.

Twitter love

On Twitter many people from Britain's Indian communities have been expressing their excitement about attending or performing for the Indian leader.
