Coach Bennell remanded on sex charges

Former football coach Barry Bennell has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with child sex offences.
He is charged with five counts of indecent assault on a boy, two counts of inciting a boy to commit an act of gross indecency and one count of assault with intent to commit buggery.
The 62-year-old appeared via video link at South Cheshire Magistrates' Court.
He will appear at Chester Crown Court on 11 January.
All of the alleged offences relate to the same victim, who was under 15. They were alleged to have happened between 1981 and 1985.
One of the alleged offences was said to have happened at Butlins. Two were said to have occurred in Furness Vale, Derbyshire, and others were said to have happened in Nantwich, Cheshire.
Mr Bennell spoke only to confirm his address, which was given as of no fixed abode.
He is a former youth football coach who worked at Crewe Alexandra and a number of other clubs across the north west of England.
He was charged after an investigation by Cheshire Police.
