King of Spain in state visit to UK

Britain and Spain can overcome their differences and further maintain strong ties, the king of Spain has said.

King Felipe VI said he respected the UK's decision to leave the EU and that he wanted to protect British citizens living in Spain, and vice versa.

He was speaking on the first day of a three-day visit to the UK with his wife, Queen Letizia.

The state visit is Spain's first since 1986.
