Passing motorist films Constance Marten and Mark Gordon's car on fire

The jury in the trial of Constance Marten and Mark Gordon at the Old Bailey has been played footage taken by passing motorist Ken Hudson on 5 January 2023, of the couple’s car after it burst into flames on the M61 in Greater Manchester.

In the video, Mr Gordon can be heard offering Mr Hudson money – which he refused - for a lift to the nearest service station.

Mr Hudson told the court he asked if Ms Marten and Mr Gordon's baby was okay, to which Ms Marten replied "she's fine".

Constance Marten and Mark Gordon, of no fixed address, deny manslaughter by gross negligence, perverting the course of justice, concealing the birth of a child, child cruelty and causing or allowing the death of a child.
