Brianna Ghey's mum and Molly Russell's dad discuss online safety

The mother of murdered teen Brianna Ghey and father of Molly Russell, a 14-year-old who took her own life after viewing self-harm content online, have met to talk about online safety.

Ian Russell has been campaigning for a safer online world for children since the death of his daughter in 2017.

Esther Ghey, whose daughter Brianna was killed in February 2023, says the Online Safety Act does not go far enough to protect children - and has been calling for smartphones to be banned for children under 16.

She is also part of a campaign to put mindfulness on the national school curriculum.
