Man 'took banned items into HMP Swaleside' on Sheppey

A London man has been charged with trying to take prohibited articles into HMP Swaleside in Kent.

Richard Brown, 23, of New Cross, south London, is accused of trying to take four mobile phone SIM cards and a Class A drug into the jail on Sheppey.

Kent Police said Mr Brown was charged with attempting to convey prohibited articles into prison to a serving inmate, after a visit to the jail.

Mr Brown is due to appear before Maidstone magistrates on 22 September.
