Stolen chlorine gas found at roadside in Staffordshire

Barrels of potentially dangerous chlorine gas which were stolen from a truck stop in Cheshire have been found dumped on a Staffordshire roadside.

The eight barrels were on a trailer taken from the Poplars 2000 truck stop at the M6/M56 motorway interchange in Lymm at the weekend.

Police were warning the gas could prove fatal in extreme cases if inhaled.

The trailer was found abandoned on the A34 Stone Road in Staffordshire on Wednesday, with the barrels intact.

Anyone with information about the theft is being urged to contact police or Crimestoppers.
