Campaign pushing for Midland Mainline upgrade

A new campaign has been launched to lobby for further electrification of the Midland Mainline.

Electric trains already travel on the line from London St Pancras up to Bedford but, after that, only diesel engines operate to Sheffield.

Network Rail estimates that the upgrade would cost at least £500 million.
