Mental health service to help East Midlands veterans

The service will provide treatment for conditions such as depression, anxiety and stress

A new service offering mental health support for ex-military personnel is to be launched in the East Midlands.

Several health trusts are working with national veteran's charity, Combat Stress, to provide help with a range of mental health conditions.

The aim is to make it easier for people leaving service to access local support.

It also aims to offer advice about housing, debts and help with relationship problems.

Paul Cruickshank, from the veteran's liaison service, said: "The experiences people have during service and their transition to civilian life can result in different factors triggering their mental ill health.

"Through this provision we will endeavour to serve those who have served their country."

The veterans' service is available to anyone who has served in the army, navy or airforce. It will be officially launched at Leicester Tigers Rugby Club on 9 July.
