Hot weather disrupting Greater Anglia train services

Hot weather is disrupting trains across East Anglia as operators cut speeds because of sagging overhead lines.

Restrictions come into force from 12:00 BST on lines between London Liverpool Street and Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk.

Greater Anglia said a revised train service is being introduced to reduce the impact on travel from London during the afternoon and evening.

Greater Anglia said: "We have cancelled the minimum number of trains but would like to apologise to customers."

Eight cancellations

Trains will be travelling slower than normal to avoid problems on the track and on overhead lines which can sag as they become hotter and expand.

Delays are expected on train services from London to Shenfield, Southminster, Southend, Chelmsford, Colchester, Harwich, Ipswich and Norwich.

Eight trains have been cancelled and others will not stop at scheduled stations.

TFL London Underground and c2c will be accepting Greater Anglia tickets from noon until approximately 22:00 BST on all reasonable routes to assist customers travelling home.
