A pink Rolls-Royce carrying four celebrities has finished a Land's End to John O'Groats trip in under 24 hours in aid of breast cancer care.

DJ Chris Evans, singer Gary Barlow, Professor Brian Cox and broadcaster James May set off from Land's End in Cornwall at 10:15 BST on Thursday.

They arrived at John O'Groats at about 04:30 BST, with Top Gear presenter May driving the last leg.

After finishing, the team tweeted: "We did it. Thanks for all your support."

During the 880-mile (1,415km) trip, the team stopped off in Bristol, Birmingham, Warrington and Glasgow.

Evans, who said the trip was a "brilliant adventure", broadcast his Radio 2 Friday breakfast show from BBC Radio Scotland in Inverness.

He did his Thursday show from BBC Radio Cornwall in Truro.

The year-long campaign, FAB1 Million, aims to raise the funds by making the Rolls-Royce available for daily hire.

The project was thought up by Evans, who has owned the number plate FAB1 - the registration of the car of Thunderbirds' character Lady Penelope - for five years, but was unsure of what to do with it as it was not attached to a car.

Rolls-Royce gifted the bespoke vehicle, with the plate attached, to Breast Cancer Care for a year.

FAB1 Million will enable Breast Cancer Care's specialist nurses and experts to provide free, tailored information and support to anyone affected by breast cancer and help them live with, through and beyond breast cancer.
