i54 business park gets £6m investment

More than £6m of government money is to be invested in the i54 business park on the Staffordshire-Wolverhampton border.

The money will go towards improving infrastructure on the site, which will be home to firms including JLR which is building a £335m engine plant there.

Aerospace company Moog and food testing specialists Eurofins have already opened on the 10-hectare park (30 acres) at Pendeford.

However, about eight hectares (25 acres) are yet to be filled.

Mark Winnington, Staffordshire county councillor in charge of economy and infrastructure, said last November the authority had "every confidence" that the remaining plots on the £67m site would be filled.

The £6.25m investment is part of more than £400m released across the UK to help high streets, enterprise zones and local businesses, the Department for Communities and Local Government said.
