Durham County Council in volunteer plea on councillor payments

  • Published

Volunteers are needed to help decide how much County Durham's 126 councillors can be paid.

The county council needs recruits to commit three evenings a year to help decide on basic allowances for councillors.

Volunteers will sit on the independent remuneration panel and also help decide what councillors can claim for travel.

Panel members serve for five years and also decide on special responsibility allowances for the council leader.
