Somme 100: The Yorkshire Pals that fought in the battle

Thousands of soldiers fought and died in one of the deadliest battles of World War One.

On the first day of the Battle of the Somme - 100 years ago - 5,674 soldiers from Yorkshire regiments were killed including those in 15 Pals battalions from across the whole region - Bradford, Leeds, Barnsley and Sheffield.
