Wye Valley NHS trust bosses to work with another trust

Wye Valley NHS Trust will share the chief executive of the south Warwickshire trust

A hospital trust which "requires improvement" is to team up with another trust as part of a new partnership.

Wye Valley NHS Trust, which runs Hereford County Hospital, will set up an alliance with South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust (SWFT).

SWFT chief executive Glen Burley and chairman Russell Hardy will work across both organisations.

Wye Valley stressed the partnership was not a merger or takeover and it is still in charge of patient provision.

Mr Burley said his first priority was to build a solution to "deliver clinically and financially sustainable services" to patients served by the Wye Valley Trust while improving services in south Warwickshire.

The Wye Valley trust was taken out of special measures earlier this month.

It followed an inspection in 2014 which criticised medical care and A&E at Hereford.

However, the latest inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) found "significant improvement" but that further work was needed in areas such as the time it took for patients to get surgery.
