A modern house built for the actor Rowan Atkinson near Wallingford in Oxfordshire has won an award from the Royal Institute of British Architects.

Nine buildings in all have won RIBA South East Regional Awards, including this residential building in Barns Road, Oxford. Rupert Cook, chair of the jury panel, said: "We witnessed exceptional quality creating buildings that will endure."

He added: "We witnessed evidence of the client/architect relationship thriving. This is critical to fine architecture." The Art and Design Building, built for Bedales School, near Petersfield, is another example.

The winners were drawn from a shortlist of 15 projects, and 40 entries. Incurvo, one of the winners, is a curvy house built out of local brick in Goring.

Elsewhere, a sunken quad was added to the Grade II*-listed Magdalen College Library in Oxford.

The architects of youth club The Point in Tadley collaborated with youngsters in the area on its design.

The University of Winchester's Winton Chapel was renovated and extended to mark its 175th anniversary.

Warwick Hall Community Centre in Burford was redeveloped for The Church of St. John the Baptist. All the winners will now be considered for the RIBA National Awards.
