Acid spill closes A428 in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire

A major road has closed in both directions following a spill of hydrochloric acid.

The A428 is shut between the A1 in Wyboston, Bedfordshire, and the Barford Road roundabout in St Neots, Cambridgeshire.

National Highways said, external the road would remain closed while specialist teams cleared up the spill from a lorry.

Cambridgeshire Fire Service and Bedfordshire Police attended the scene.

Traffic is being diverted via local roads and Cambridgeshire Police have advised people to avoid the area.
