West Coast Line rail disruption expected over Easter weekend

Avanti West Coast services to and from London on the West Coast Main Line will be affected

Rail passengers will be affected by major engineering work taking place during the Easter weekend.

Work between London Euston and Milton Keynes Central from Friday to Monday will close all lines and have knock on effects on services to the Midlands, the north west and Scotland.

This work will be extended to Northampton from Saturday.

National Rail said journeys would be "significantly disrupted" and passengers should check in advance, external.

Some replacement buses will run and tickets will also be accepted on other routes.

There will be no mainline service between Euston and Milton Keynes from Friday to Monday, which will affect Avanti West Coast services to Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Liverpool, Manchester, Blackpool, Lancaster, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

No services will run via Northampton from Saturday.

Avanti West Coast trains to London will end at Milton Keynes Central, where replacement buses will run to Bedford station for alternative trains to London.

London Northwestern Railway services to Milton Keynes, Northampton, Coventry, Birmingham and Crewe will also be affected.
