New film and TV studios are to be built as one of four projects to benefit from an £11.5m boost to help create more than 4,000 jobs in Hertfordshire.

Elstree Studios, owned by Hertsmere Borough Council, will receive £2m from the local enterprise partnership (LEP).

Maylands Park and Spencer's Park in Hemel Hempstead get £3.5m to restart business unit and homes schemes.

At Watford Health Campus £6m funding will improve access to a new hospital, housing, business park and green space.

It is hoped the restarted projects will generate more than 4,000 new jobs and 2,000 new homes.

John Gourd, chair of the Hertfordshire LEP, said: "We are delighted to be able to kick-start these projects that have stalled due to the economic downturn.

"All of the successful bids have the ability to generate funds that can then be invested in other projects across Hertfordshire."
