Barton-le-Clay expansion plans revealed by developers

Developers have unveiled plans for the major expansion of a Bedfordshire village.

The new development, to the north of Barton-le-Clay, would include 500 houses, a retail centre, country house hotel and school.

Residents have received a leaflet outlining the proposal but a planning application has not been submitted.

An exhibition will be held in June and developers say they will listen to the public before submitting a proposal.

The population of Barton is currently in the region of 5,000 with approximately 2,000 homes.

The proposed development would use land north of the Higham Road, parallel to the A6.

Plans also include land for offices and businesses, a retirement village, gym and leisure facilities, allotments, and a 200-bedroom hotel.

The public exhibition will be held in St Nicholas Church hall on 7 and 8 June.
