A case involving the deaths of two people at a house in Hertfordshire has been referred to the police watchdog.

The bodies of a man and woman were found at an address in Highfield Road, Berkhamsted at 11:30 BST on Thursday.

The deaths are being treated as unexplained.

Hertfordshire Police said they made a mandatory referral of the case to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) after having had prior contact with the deceased.

Officers, who were were called to the scene by concerned neighbours, have also said they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.

The IPCC confirmed it had received the referral and would make a decision whether to investigate it in due course.
