Two women who died when a blaze ripped through a care home have been named.

Ivy Spriggs, aged 91, and 88-year-old Daphne Holloway died in the fire at Newgrange Care Home in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, on Saturday morning.

Mrs Spriggs met her husband during the Blitz when she was a London bus conductor and was an "unforgettable character", her family said.

Mrs Holloway was devoted to her only daughter and a "devout Christian", her family said.

Thirty-three residents were rescued. Three of those needed hospital treatment for burns and the effects of smoke inhalation.
