A pedestrian was killed when he was hit by a bus.

The man died at the scene of the crash on a busway - a guided track that only buses can use - in Jeans Way in Dunstable, Bedfordshire, at 18:00 GMT on Wednesday.

The Health and Safety Executive said it was aware of the crash and was "making initial inquiries".

Bus services were delayed while investigations were carried out but resumed on Thursday.

A spokesperson for Luton Borough Council, which is responsible for the busway, said the authority's thoughts were with "the family and friends of those affected by this tragic incident".

"An investigation is currently being conducted into the incident and it would not be appropriate for us to comment further at this stage," the spokesman added.
