A radio host was shocked when a member of East 17 turned up to a "street karaoke" event.

Terry Coldwell had success with the band in the 1990s, with hits including House of Love and It's Alright.

Mr Coldwell picked up the microphone while BBC Three Counties Radio presenter Justin Dealey held a "sing a banger for a banger" hotdog contest in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire.

He performed part of the band's 1994 UK number one hit Stay Another Day.

Mr Dealey invites passers-by to sing a song for him, and if he deems it good enough he will buy them a hotdog.

But he told Mr Coldwell that he was "too authentic" for the competition and was therefore disqualified from receiving the bread and pork prize.

East 17 formed in 1991 and despite the band splitting up on several occasions, they reformed in 2014 and released their most recent album in 2021.

Mr Coldwell is the only founding member to still perform with the group.
