Luton Airport urges prompt pick-ups following fire

Passengers have been told to expect delays travelling to and from Luton Airport

Passengers have been warned to expect delays and ensure they are dropped off and picked up promptly at Luton Airport following the car park fire.

Flights from the airport have resumed after the blaze ripped through Terminal Car Park 2 on 10 October.

Some passenger services are still affected while safety checks continue.

"We are advising customers to allow extra time for getting to the airport as the local area remains busy," a spokesperson said.

Up to 1,500 cars were inside the car park when the fire happened

"The drop-off and pick-up zone is operating out of the mid-stay car park which is a short 10-minute walk from the terminal."

A free shuttle bus service is also running between the mid-stay car park and the terminal building.

The spokesperson warned the local area remained busy and requested customers were "picked up and dropped off promptly".

"We are working hard to support customers in any way we can during this challenging time, and we remain grateful for their patience and understanding," they said.

The recently opened service connects the airport terminal with Luton Airport Parkway station

The Luton Direct Air-Rail Transit (Dart), which transports passengers between the airport and Luton Airport Parkway station, has remained closed since the fire broke out.

Although the Dart was undamaged by the fire, its proximity to the car park means there are still safety concerns.

Safety checks on that service will take place now the car park has been handed back from the fire service to the airport operators.

The Dart has been temporarily replaced by a bus service, although it is hoped the service can reopen by Thursday.
