Former Welwyn Garden City paramedic jailed for rape

A former paramedic has been jailed for 20 years for grooming and raping a girl.
Stuart Gray, 60, of Beehive Lane, Welwyn Garden City, was found guilty of rape earlier this year.
He admitted other charges related to sexual activity with a child, making indecent photographs of a child and voyeurism.
The offences were committed between 2010 and 2020. He was jailed at St Albans Crown Court on Thursday.
He will serve 20 years in prison and four years on extended licence.
All of the offences involved a single victim and were not committed while he was working as a paramedic.
His crimes came to light in 2021 when the victim - now in her 20s - reported Gray to police.
He was arrested, suspended from duty with the London Ambulance Service and removed from the professional register for paramedics.
Hertfordshire Constabulary said Gray made his victim believe they were both "angels on earth" and that the abuse was his way of "saving her".
He also filmed and photographed her committing sexual acts without her consent, police said.
Indecent images and videos were found on his computer following his arrest.
Det Con Sonja Townsend said: "Gray is an abhorrent individual and his victim has shown incredible bravery throughout this ordeal.
"I hope today's result goes some way in helping her to move forward with her life."
Gray will be on the Sex Offenders register for life.
