A car hit a wall and ploughed into the children's nursery in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, on Christmas Day

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of drink- or drug-driving after a car crashed through a school nursery wall on Christmas Day.

Thames Valley Police said a 59-year-old from Amersham, Bucks, was arrested after the crash at Acre Wood Nursery School on the town's Woodside Road.

Another woman, aged 53 and from Bedford, was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit and failure to provide a specimen at the roadside.

Police said she had been de-arrested.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses or relevant CCTV, mobile phone or dashcam footage of the incident, which involved a black Mercedes-Benz and happened at about 18:15 GMT.

On Facebook, external, Acre Wood Nursery School said: "We are aware that a car has collided with the nursery building.

"It promised to keep parents updated, adding: "Please bear with us whilst we navigate this difficult situation."
