Ascot millionairess's husband in court on murder charge

A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of his millionairess wife in Berkshire.

The body of Joanna Brown, 46, who ran a bed and breakfast from a mock-Tudor mansion in Ascot, was found in Windsor Great Park on Friday.

Robert Brown, 46, of Winkfield, is charged with murder and preventing a coroner from holding an inquest by disposing of his wife's body.

At Reading Crown Court, Mr Brown, of North Street, was remanded in custody.

There was no application for bail and a trial date has been set for May next year.

The couple married 11 years ago but are understood to have been going through divorce proceedings.

Mrs Brown had been reported missing on 1 November and her body found in the park four days later.

Post-mortem tests showed she had died from severe blunt force trauma to her head.

The family of Mrs Brown, originally from the Isle of Man, described her as a "very special person", adding that she was "loved and admired by everyone".
