Berkshire's Swinley Forest fires 'under control'

  • Published

A large area of forest in Berkshire has been damaged by two separate fires.

Firefighters were called to the first blaze at Swinley Forest, near Ascot, on Saturday evening.

Crews remain at the scene of the most recent incident, near Woodlands Ride, South Ascot, where the flames are now under control.

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service said the second fire had been contained in an area measuring 300m by 300m surrounded by tracks.

A spokesman said the flames had died down but the ground was still smouldering.

The cause is being investigated.
