Frozen ground halts Swinley Forest tree planting
- Published
Freezing ground conditions have led to the postponement of tree planting by volunteers in a Berkshire forest.
Thousands of trees were lost when fire swept through Swinley Forest last May.
Although this weekend's planting has been called off, volunteers are still needed for future events on 24, 25 February and 9, 11 March.
In January, about 250 people helped plant nearly 5,000 oak, sweet chestnut and Douglas fir trees over two days.
