New £10m Ikea store in Reading is approved

Ikea's bid to open a £10m store in Reading, creating hundreds of jobs, has been approved by councillors.

Some residents and businesses had objected to the plan for the store at Pincents Lane Retail Park because of traffic congestion fears.

But Ikea told West Berkshire Council's eastern planning committee the store would provide 400 jobs and pledged to invest £5m in road improvements.

The derelict site is near the A4 Bath Road and junction 12 of the M4.
